West Bay
The fishing port east of Eype is West Bay. Built as the harbour for Bridport, West Bay is now a seaside resort reknowned for its coastal walks, fishing trips, fossil hunting and sheltered beach.
Abbotsbury
Abbotsbury is famed for its unique swannery and semi tropical garden. Take the coast road from West Bay through Burton Bradstock to Abbotsbury for a breath-taking panorama of the Chesil Beach and Deadman's Bay.
Golden Cap
Within walking distance of Golden Acre is Golden Cap which at 626 feet, is is the highest sea cliff on the south coast of England, so called because of the reflection of the sun off the golden sandstone.
Eype Beach
Just a 10 minute walk from the park is the breathtaking Eype Beach which is a dog friendly beach all year round.
Lyme Regis
Made famous by Jane Austen in Persuasion and the setting for John Fowles' book and film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' with Meryl Streep. A town filled with ancient history and some of the best fossil hunting to be found anywhere, Lyme Regis is also known for the 'Cobb' harbour which dates from when it was one of the most important ports on the south coast.
Dorchester
The County Town of Dorset. The heart of Thomas Hardy's "Wessex". A delightful drive across the Dorset Downs and a visit to the Dorchester County Museum is a must for those interested in the history of old Dorset!
