Places to visit during your stay
The fishing port east of Eype is West Bay. Built as the harbour for Bridport, West Bay is now a seaside resort renowned for its coastal walks, fishing trips, fossil hunting and sheltered beach.
The Golden Cap
Within walking distance of Golden Acre is Golden Cap which at 626 feet, is is the highest sea cliff on the south coast of England, so called because of the reflection of the sun off the golden sandstone.
Just a 10 minute walk from the park is the breathtaking Eype Beach which is a dog friendly beach all year round. Steps down to the beach provide easy access to the pebbled beach.
Made famous by Jane Austen in Persuasion and the setting for John Fowles’ book and film ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’ with Meryl Streep. A town filled with ancient history and some of the best fossil hunting to be found anywhere, Lyme Regis is also known for the ‘Cobb’ harbour which dates from when it was one of the most important ports on the south coast.
The County Town of Dorset. The heart of Thomas Hardy’s “Wessex”. Take a visit to Sculpture by the Lakes, nestled in 26 acres an oasis for art lovers and collectors alike created by renowned sculptor Simon Gudgeon.
The New Inn
The New Inn is a dog friendly pub in the middle of Eype itself, about a 3 minute walk from the Park. Great food, good ales and a relaxing quiet atmostphere. Like pubs used to be.
